Parents and grandparents are the very pillars of society. The first teachers of their children and the faith.
The Catholic Liturgical calendar sets aside a day to honor and celebrate parents and grandparents on the beautiful feast of the Saints Joachim and Anne.
We, the Sunday School team were blessed with the opportunity to make the 28th of July 2024, a memorable and enjoyable day, not just for our parents and grandparents, but for all our parishioners, clergy and religious. The theme for this year’s celebration was – ‘Wind Beneath my Wings’
The program began with the Lighting of the Lamp a symbolic moment that depicts Christ’s light in Spiritual darkness.
The curtains unfolded with a prayer dance by the little children of our Sunday School paying homage to God our Father with the song “Yeshu Mashi” choreographed by Ms. Maya Prabhu.
Fr. John Lopes, Parish Priest and Spiritual Director of Sunday School honored the event, with a talk.
Our little dynamite Gwenyth Correya – recited a poem on PARENTS and the strong role they play in the lives of their children.
A skit on – “Wind Beaneth my Wings” by our very own talented Sunday School artistes – children and teachers portrayed the struggles of the children and the role of the parents in guiding, pushing, helping, praying with and for their children.
The Sunday School choir once again had everyone humming along and tapping their feet to the medley of songs put together by Ms. Iola Menezes and the children.
Ms. Venessa Arlick, our Sunday School Catechist and a mother of a very active son in Sunday School gave the Vote of Thanks.
And then came the heart pounding, rhythmic, energetic moves of the Sunday School children dancing their hearts out to a mix choreographed by Ms. Justina Chillo.
The whole show was kept together with fun, laughter, riddles and spot prizes by our very own and extremely talented comperes: Drayton, Gweth and Rishon.
The program didn’t end there – there was dancing, games and more spot prizes by Ms. Giselle and Ms. Seamon – our Sunday School Catechists and then came time to say the Grace and dig into the scrumptious meal prepared by Psychedelic Caterers.
A BIG THANK YOU to the Sunday School Team for handling and managing the entire Parents Day program – truly a “DREAM TEAM”
