
Procedure for Funerals
Funeral timings: Weekdays 10am or 4pm
Funeral timings: Sunday 3:30 pm
No change in timing is permitted without the approval of the Parish Priest
Procedure for burial in Temporary Graves
- Burials in Temporary Graves is permitted for Kalina parishioners only in Our Lady of Egypt Church Cemetery.
- The family has to approach the Parish Office with the BMC Death Certificate.
- The family can meet the priest on duty.
- The Parish Office will verify the residential address of the family.
- The Parish Office will provide a ‘Death Announcement Form’ which has to be updated by the family member.
- The Parish Office staff will confirm the funeral timing after checking the Mass Register for any prior Baptism or Marriage bookings and the availability of the priest.
- ‘Death Announcement Form’ is given to the Sacristan for announcement during Masses.
- The family can write the funeral details on the blackboard near the church entrance.
- BMC permit is submitted by the undertaker on the day of the burial
- The church funeral charges is Rs. 2500/- + Funeral Mass Charges Rs. 50 on Weekdays/ Rs. 100/- on Sundays. A receipt is issued by the Parish Office for the same.
- The family has to inform the office in advance if a Guest Priest is celebrating the Funeral Mass.
- The family can book the Month’s Mind Mass to enable them to make an announcement at the funeral.
- Live-streaming on You Tube is not permitted. The funeral rites can be recorded on Whatsapp/ Zoom Call / Google Meet only. Permission has to be obtained from the priest celebrating the Mass.
Procedure for burial in Permanent Graves:
- The family has to approach the Parish Office with the BMC Death Certificate and the ORIGINAL PERMANENT GRAVE CARD. A xerox copy of the BMC Death Certificate and Permanent Grave Card has to be submitted in the office.
- The family can meet the priest on duty.
- The Parish Office will verify the residential address of the family.
- The Parish Office will check the registration details and Family Tree of the Permanent Grave. The deceased person’s name has to reflect on the Family Tree.
- If the deceased person’s is not mentioned on the ‘Family Tree’, the Permanent Grave card holder has to give a written No objection for burial.
- The date of last burial in the Permanent Grave has to be checked by the Parish Office. Any Permanent Grave can be opened only after completion of 2 years from the last burial.
- The Parish Office will provide a ‘Death Announcement Form’ which has to be updated by the family member.
