On the blessed morning of Tuesday, September 10th, the faithful of Our Lady of Egypt Church, Kalina, gathered at the sacred Mount Mary Basilica for the 9:30 AM Eucharistic celebration. This holy service was a harmonious response to the Synodal path call from the Basilica, inviting parishes from all eleven deaneries. Representing the Central Suburbs deanery, Fr. John Lopes, the Parish Priest, facilitated the participation of parishioners from Our Lady of Egypt Church, Kalina with the help of Christopher Arlick as the coordinator for this celebration.
Under the spiritual guidance of Fr. Amol Thopelya, the theme of the day, “Blessed Virgin Mary – Seat of Wisdom,” was beautifully conveyed. Fr. Amol’s sermon reflected on the profound wisdom of Mary in her divine calling to be the Mother of God, inspiring all present to seek wisdom in their own spiritual journeys.
The Eucharistic celebration was enriched by the joyful and uplifting hymns led by choir members of our parish: Kevin Patrao, Remco Mendonca, Annivia Pereira, Maya Prabhu, Jordan Coutinho, Lisa Coutinho, Nicole Fernandes, Lorraine Dias, Daniella Sequeira, Jessica Albuquerque, Julias Mendonsa, Trezel Gonsalves, Pearl D’Souza with Jaden Furtado on the keyboard and Nathaniel Baptista on the guitar. The liturgy was further graced by the readings from lectors Amli David and Sian D’Souza under the mentorship of Dr. Swapna Deniz and the dedicated service of Eucharistic ministers – Christina Murzello and Sr. Sangeeta along with our altar servers – Ayana, Aveona, Earl and Shalom.
This sacred gathering was a testament to the blessings and grace bestowed upon the parish community. The team felt deeply grateful for the opportunity to share their God-given talents, honoring the Blessed Virgin Mary and her son, Jesus Christ. May the wisdom and blessings of Mary continue to guide and inspire us all on our spiritual paths. Amen.
