The Marian Morning Stars of Our Lady of Egypt Church, Kalina, joyfully celebrated Parents’ Day and Vianney Day on 9th August 2026, bringing together priests, nuns, parents, students and parishioners for a memorable afternoon of faith, fellowship, and celebration.
Centered around this year’s theme, “To Know, To Love, and To Serve,” the event was creatively titled “Beyond the Journey (BTJ 2026).” The celebration took off with a unique airline concept, adding excitement to every detail. From boarding pass invitation tickets—complete with inflight snacks, entertainment, and lunch—to the comperes and teachers warmly welcoming guests dressed as airline crew, the aviation concept made the experience truly engaging.
The journey began with an opening prayer led by Fr. John Lopes. Setting a joyful mood, the students performed the theme song, ‘We are the Marian Morning Stars,’ sung and accompanied live on the keyboard by the Marian Morning Stars. As the music echoed, the little ones showered the parents with little petals in the shape of flowers, butterflies, hearts and angels.
Honouring Vianney Sunday, the priests of our parish—Fr. John, Fr. Nelson, Fr. Cliffy, Fr. Amol, and Brother Anlon—were felicitated with touching words from the children and thoughtful gifts from the teachers. To mark the occasion, the priests gathered to cut a custom flight-shaped cake.
The highlight of the afternoon was a skit presented by the Sunday School students, titled Beyond the Journey. The play beautifully unfolded the parish theme through a narrative following a group of students traveling from India to Rome. Their journey was punctuated by three energetic dance performances to ‘We Are Marching in the Light of God,’ ‘Open the Eyes of My Heart,’ and ‘Hello,’ before wrapping up with a high-spirited finale to ‘One Way Jesus.’
The youth further elevated the energy with lively performances to ‘Such a Happy Day,’ ‘Deewana Yeshu Ka,’ and the ‘Marian FAM Theme Song’, getting the entire audience on their feet to join in the action.
Dr. Amanda Lobo delivered the vote of thanks, expressing heartfelt gratitude to everyone who contributed to the seamless event. Fr. Cliffy then led the Grace before meals, opening a sumptuous buffet lunch for the parish community to enjoy together, complete with mouthwatering kulfi and cake.
The day concluded on a deeply grateful note—a reflection of family, faith, and togetherness. All praise and glory be to God Almighty, through the intercession of Saints Joachim and Anne and Saint John Mary Vianney, for making this celebration a truly blessed experience.
