Fr. John Lopes was inducted as Parish Priest of Our Lady of Egypt Church, Kalina on Sunday, 30th June 2024 by His Eminence Oswald Cardinal Gracias.

His Eminence Oswald Cardinal Gracias was received at St. Mary’s Chowk by the Priest Team of Fr. John Lopes, Fr. Joshua Dsouza, Fr. Sravan Kumar and Fr. Amol Thopelya, SMI & MSA Sisters, Parish Council Members and parishioners.

His Eminence was brought in procession to the Church in a Carriage which was led by the East Indian Band and Flower girls.

The Eucharistic Celebration at 6:30 pm was a very solemn Celebration with a very inspiring homily from our Cardinal on the Gospel message of Healing and Blessings and on the role of the Laity in the Church.

The Rite of Induction, Profession of Faith, Oath of Office and Symbolic presentation of duties during the Eucharistic Celebration was witnessed by a large number of parishioners who gave a huge round of applause in acceptance to Cardinals declaration of Fr. John Lopes as the new Parish Priest.

Fr. John Lopes was deeply overwhelmed and expressed his gratitude to Cardinal, the priest team and all parishioners.

Cardinal in his concluding message at the end of the Eucharistic Celebration appreciated the vibrancy of the Parish, the excellent and melodious youth choir & lectors, the flawless planning and execution of the full event, and urged the parishioners to extend their whole hearted support to Fr. John Lopes and the priest team and to pray for his good health.
