Sacrament of Confirmation

28th February 2026 was a day of immense joy in our parish, as 54 candidates were administered the Sacrament of Confirmation, by His Lordship, Archbishop John Rodrigues.

His Lordship was solemnly welcomed with a procession from St. Mary’s Chowk to our Church. The procession was marked by a spirit of reverence and joy, and included our Parish Fathers, Rev. Fr. John Lopes, Fr. Joshua D’souza, Fr. Cliffy Fernandes and Fr. Amol Thopelya, the confirmands, their parents, and numerous parishioners who gathered to be part of the occasion.

The candidates having prepared themselves over the last 7-8 months, imbibing the faith, participating in the sacramental and prayer life of the Church, and strengthened with a Retreat and Mission exposure, desired to be ‘Sealed with the Holy Spirit, to go forth to Witness God’s Love.’

The bare altar and purple vestments, while reflective of the Lenten season, the orange hue of the flame represented the vibrancy of the Holy Spirit being invoked. The well executed liturgy with the spirit-filled, soul stirring hymns sung by the youth choir, enhanced the sacredness of the Sacrament administered.

The Confirmands celebrated their joy in being Confirmed, with a song at the end of the Liturgy, followed by an interaction with His Lordship in the Community Hall. During the interactions, Archbishop once again reiterated the need for vocations, to both priesthood and religious life. and invited the Confirmands to discern their calling.

The parish congratulates the Confirmands and prays that they will walk in the Spirit, using the gifts of the Holy Spirit in the life and mission of the Church.
