Holy Trinity (Konkani) Prayer Group of Our Lady of Egypt Church – Kalina
The Holy Trinity (Konkani) Prayer Group of our parish celebrated the 44th Anniversary of our Prayer Group on Monday, 14th September 2026. A significant milestone of more than four decades was the reason of the celebration. The four dimensions of the Cross, Faith, Prayer, Witnessing and Fellowship is the constant strength and direction the group receives to experience God’s love, goodness, abundant blessings and grace. This year in particular, the joy of celebrating the Annual Day was doubled as it coincided with the feast of the ‘Exaltation of the Cross.’ – The plan of the Holy Cross that emerged from the Holy Trinity. The infinite love of God the Father, [Isaiah 53] the humility and total obedience of Jesus the Son to offer himself as a sacrifice [Philippians 2:5-11] and the power of the Holy Spirit to raise Jesus from the dead on the third day [Romans 8:11] was celebrated through the Holy Eucharist presided by Rev. Fr. Cliffy Fernandes and attended by more than hundred parishioners and invited guests.
The spiritual celebration was followed by a get-together where old and new members along with the guest’s joined hands and shared memories of the group’s journey. A small group of simple yet faithful people began coming together in 1982 to Praise and Worship the ‘Triune God’ with their hearts and minds week after week, their patience, endurance and faithfulness has borne fruit abundantly over the period of years and grown into a cherished community bond together by prayer and shared love for God and neighbour. The celebration included a blend of prayer dance, a hilarious skit presented by the talented ladies of the prayer group, games, song and finally dance to the tune of Gospel Music by our very own youth, Marian FAM of our parish.
A special tribute was paid to the priests of the parish, a few dignitaries and those who come to preach the Word of God at the prayer meeting every Monday for their dedication, commitment and service to sustain and build the prayer group. Their contribution, support and service have been an immense inspiration to us all.
A special thanks to all who helped and contributed in a big or small way, for all those who sacrificed their time, for tirelessly working behind the scene day and night to make this day a grand success God bless you all. May the years ahead bring greater unity, deeper spirituality and more opportunities to serve in the vineyard of the Lord and strengthen the Church at large.
I extend a warm welcome to all our Konkani speaking parishioners to come and experience Christ’s love, mercy and marvellous deeds through Praise and Worship and through the Word of God shared every Monday after the evening Mass between 7:30 pm to 9:00 pm in the choir wing of the Church.
